nhandan.com.vn - Around 200 delegates and 64 businesses from Vietnam and
Malaysia gathered at an information and communication technology (ICT)
forum in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24 to seek co-operative opportunities.
The event was jointly organised by Malaysia Trade External Development Corporation (MATRADE) and Quang Trung Software City. Addressing
the event, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen
Minh Hong said co-operation between Malaysia , which owns
infrastructure, expertise and a broadband network, and Vietnam, with an
abundant supply of manpower and a promising market, will help raise each
side’s strength and competitiveness in the global market. According
to Le Thai Hy, Director of the municipal Department of Information and
Communications, Vietnam’s IT sector has maintained stable growth in past
years. In HCM City alone, the sector earns nearly US$2.5 billion a
year. Regarding the development of e-government, Zalian Mohamed
Noh, Service Development Director of MSC company, a leading IT business
in Malaysia, said Vietnam should assign the project to major cities and
provinces before spreading it nationwide. At the event, the
Vietnam TMA software company along with its Malaysian partner Nextgrid
inked a deal with online payment service provider iPay88, under which a
mobile payment system will be set up across the Southeast Asia using TMA
Nextgrid technology via iPay88.

Vietnam’s second largest software company TMA has signed a
partnership agreement with Malaysia’a leading online payment services
provider NextGrid.

The event took place at the Malaysia-Vietnam ICT Forum in Quang Trung
Software City (QTSC) organised by QTSC and Malaysia External Trade
Development Corporation (MATRADE) to foster collaboration between
Malaysian IT companies and Vietnamese companies.
The purpose of this partnership is to develop a mobile payment system
for South East Asia by utilising well-known iPay88 online payment
gateways and TMA-NextGrid technical skills on mobile application
development.
"This partnership gives TMA a great opportunity to access iPay88
clients in financial sector. We are looking forward to collaborating
with NextGrid and iPay88 to expand the South East Asia market," said
TMA’s chairman Nguyen Huu Le.
TMA is the leading Vietnam software company with more than 1,100
engineers. Currently, TMA has six offices in Vietnam and five offices
overseas. Apart from software outsourcing, it is developing mobile
products and solutions for clients from 11 countries.

VOV - A Malaysia-Vietnam information technology (IT) forum opened in Ho Chi Minh City on May 24.
At
the event, 37 Vietnamese businesses and 27 Malaysian IT enterprises
met, exchanged and introduced the potential and advantages of the two
markets, as well as cooperation opportunities in such fields as
e-government, e-commerce, telecommunications, database and banking and
finance.
Nguyen Minh Hong, Deputy Minister of
Information and Communications (MIC), said the ministry is deploying
many programmes to support e-government in Vietnam.
The Vietnamese government has issued
many policies to attract foreign investment and at the same time exploit
markets in Malaysia, across Asia and around the world, he noted.
The forum opens many cooperation
opportunities for the two countries to seek markets and promote
exchange. Malaysian businesses pledged to help their Vietnamese
counterparts expand operations in the IT field in Malaysia and the
Middle East.
By February 2012, Malaysia had invested $8 million in Vietnam’s IT field.
